3D Cameras

Manufactures industrial 3D color cameras for demanding robotic applications. Our high-quality 3D vision and software enable customers to detect, pick, and place parts in bin-picking, piece picking, assembly, machine tending, and packing applications

Consideration 1
Workspace size and 3D vision clearance
Depending on your workspace dimensions (L x W x H) and the clearance (mounting distance - workspace height) from your vision system, Zivid offers 3D cameras to match your application. You can use the table as a guideline when selecting the depth camera best fitted for your system.

Typical workspace dimensions (L x W x H) in mm:
  • Large: ≤ 1200 x ≤ 800 ≤ 1000
  • Medium: ≤ 600 x ≤ 400 ≤ 400
  • Small: ≤ 300 x ≤ 200 ≤ 200
  • XS: ≤ 150 x ≤ 100 ≤ 100
Consideration 2
Stationary or on-arm robot mounting
Depending on your application needs, you can mount depth sensors stationary above your target, or alternatively on the robot arm itself. Zivid One+ and Zivid Two 3D cameras are designed to support both configurations. You can see the two types of mounting below.

image
Stationary mounted 3D depth camera considerations.
  • Static position for every 3D capture.
  • Minimal conflict with bin, gripper, or robot arm.
  • Instantly capture and process 3D after picking.
  • Shortest cycle time.
image
On-arm robot mounted 3D depth camera considerations.
  • Increase point cloud quality with flexible capturing position.
  • Need to consider maneuverability
  • Use a single camera for both pick and place locations.
  • Requires more robust cabling.
Zivid's 3D cameras capture high-definition 3D point clouds in just a few hundred milliseconds to keep robot cycle time short. Compared to other 3D sensors, Zivid has an optimized baseline (the distance between camera and projector) and low weight to make sure you can mount the depth sensor together with your end-effector or grippers without reducing maneuverability or the robot payload.
Side-by-side comparison
